WalkieFleet Cross-server Interconnection

WalkieFleet Cross-server Interconnection allows to establish seamless integration of multiple servers.
Cross-server Interconnection features:

  • Each WalkieFleet server can be connected to multiple other servers
  • Cross-server online user visibility
  • Private and group voice PTT calls
  • Server interconnection license is required for each server participating in the connectivity
Server Interconnection Diagram
For each pair of servers, one is initiating the connection (TLS socket connect), another is accepting the connection (TLS socket accept).
Any connections between servers that form a simple connected graph (tree) are allowed. Rings (loops) are not allowed.
Interconnection between server is managed in the Server Manager
  • External Servers button is available in the Server Manager main menu if the license for cross-server connection is activated on the server.
  • Server to server connection is initiated only from one of the servers
  • For each pair of servers, upon successful connection, link configuration is available and can be changed on both servers using the Server Manager.
  • Connection between servers is authorized by the regular dispatcher accounts. Access to server resources is limited by the dispatcher permissions.
  • Each talkgroup can be linked to one or few talkgroups on another server. It is allowed to have only one link of a group to each connected server.
External Server Properties
  • Active – Enable/disable cross-server connection.
  • Name – name of the external server. Can be any text representing the external server
  • IP Endpoint – External server IP and port. Connection is established over the server service port - 9999 by default. Example: 21.9.37.203:9999
  • External Login - Dispatcher account on the external server which is used to connect to the external server
  • External Password - Password for the external login
  • Local Login - Dispatcher account on the local server which is used by the external server to connect the local server.
Linking Groups Between the Servers
Cross-server communication is established through the linking of the groups on local and external servers. Visibility of the network users and corresponding functionality becomes available when at least one group on local server is linked to a group on the external one.
External user presence mode depends on the permissions of the dispatcher account used to connect to external server.
Upon successful external server connection, group links can be added in the table under the connected server record.
Local Groups tab gives overview of all links established for the local server.
Users and dispatchers from the external servers are represented by special color and have limited context menu.
