WalkieFleet Server Redundancy

WalkieFleet Server can operate in 3 roles
  • Standalone. Single server operating without redundancy.
  • Primary. Main server presuming capability to switch to backup server.
  • Backup. Backup server operating in case of master unavailability.
Features
  • Redundancy allows using only one backup server.
  • Backup server license is required to enable redundancy. With a single backup license, redundancy server supports whole license volume of the master server
  • All meta-data (networks, users, groups) are automatically replicated from Primary to Backup server, but not vice versa.
  • Event log and recordings are not synchronized between Primary and Backup servers.
  • Redundancy server must be deployed on a separate machine having its own fixed IP.
Redundancy Settings
Stop WalkieFleet Server and open Startup Configuration window / Roles tab.
Primary Role Settings
  • Backup Server Identity - Use 'This Server Identity' value from backup server.
  • Backup Server Address (IP:port) - IP address or host name of backup server. Port is service TCP port specified on General tab of backup server.
Backup Role Settings
  • Primary Server Identity - Use 'This Server Identity' value from primary server.
  • Primary Server Address (IP:port) - IP address or host name of primary server. Port is service TCP port specified on General tab of primary server.
  • Backup Server Activation Delay (sec) - Timeout to switch clients to backup server in case of primary server unavailability.
When both master and backup servers are set and running, all client devices and dispatchers must connect to the master server at least once to get information about backup server address. It will enable automatic handover in case of master server unavailability.
